The launch of CYA
Thursday, August 28, 2008 ; 3:40 AM

On the 22nd of August 2008, the launch of Compassionate Youths in Action (aka CYA) was witnessed by approximately 120 NP students from Psychology & Community Services (PCS) and Business and Social Enterprise (BZSE) courses.

CYA is the student body for PCS & BZSE students where we express and put into action our compassionate and concern for the many in the society who are disadvantaged and less fortunate.

It is where we are empowered to initiate projects, have opportunities to network wh partners and funders, and most important, to "find a need and meet it, feel a hurt and heal it"

It is where we work together, in solidarity, to make a difference and be the change we want to see happen.

For NP students, click here to know more.

In conclusion, CYA is a platform for students to initiate any ideas and projects that they have so that something more can come out of it. Anyone who have the burning passion to help the disadvantaged and less fortunate are able to play a part in joining those projects.

Reflections

We feel that the launch of CYA is going to create a significant change in the lives of us, the students and the many in our society who are disadvantaged and less fortunate. It allows those who have the burning passion who wants to create an impact in the lives of the less fortunate to do so.

By allowing students to initiate projects, it encourages students to voice their opinions and ideas out. It also teaches students to help the needy and empathize with them. This is an important event as with the launch, we are able to make a difference and spread the message to the disadvantaged and less fortunate that there are always people around who care about them.
